Why we don’t put our prices on our websites and why we should do that anyway
Ever tried to get an estimate from a house painter?
Wanted to know how much it cost to get you garden done?
Searched for a quotation for remodeling your bathroom?
Hard, isn’t it?
I hate it just as much as you do.
And yet I didn’t have any price information on my website.
Most contractors anywhere, and as a freelance scientific illustrator I am just that of course, make it a habit of not showing their prices. In some businesses this is because an individual contractor is afraid the competition sees the prices and offers one just below theirs, in other businesses it is just because of habits that are hard to break.
Fact is that 99% of the time, with most of the work I am asked for, I know how to calculate my price. And I’ve done this work long enough to know it almost immediatly. I bet most scientific illustrators do.
But we are also in the habit of not showing our prices.
And I know myself: if I don’t see a price on a website when I am searching for just that, I am gone. How ever amazing the products on that site are, that threshold is too high.
So, you don’t have the time, nor the experience, for scientific illustration and it isn’t just for you, it is for your research or business. You want to know ahead how the visualizations of your project fit into your budget. And you want be sure the quality of the illustrations meet your standards.
I just made both of our lives a lot easier.
For five of my most requested categories of illustrations I automated the quotations. And put them on my website for you.
By answering a few questions you will immediatly get an estimate. And if you need an official quotation to be used in budget calculations, it is send to you via email.
Without any obligations.
Every offer is valid for three months.
And if you have any questions, I am very happy to answer them.
Here you can find it in English: Quote
And here in Dutch: Offerte
The links guide you to a separate part of my website where I not only give you a clear price but also an overview of the five categories of illustrations I offer.
